He carried very light, in case he had to carry something back home, so he didn't have anything he could offer that would be a good snack or charm.

Ah!

Waves flumped his large, flowing tail on the ground a few times. With each thump, a few of his long tail hairs fell free, until there was a small pile of them.

"Last of my summer coat I think." he said, using his hoof to sweep together the strands into a neater pile. "It's not much, but they can be used for bedding or decorations, anything really. It's pretty resilient, I think these clever creatures can find ways to use it."

Little Voices knew a lot about mice, about what they liked and didn't like, how they all had their own special personality. There was always some sort of nuts or berries on her, tucked away by nimble little paws, that could be offered to potential new friends.

But when asked to make an offering, she didn't bring out any food. Instead the doe simply knelt down close to the little group. Eight little mouse faces (and one budgie) peeked out from her hair and from behind her spines, noses wriggling, squeaking in delight.

"Hello there," she said softly.

Her offer was a simple: a family.

Your ray catching advice: Rays are really special creatures, I would make sure that I get as waterproof paint as possible, maybe leaves and sticks for decoration and then disguise myself as a ray so that I can get as close to them as possible.
